DESCRIPTION:The Brunswick County Veterans Coalition was established to provide up-to-date information affecting veterans and their families.  It will hold its next meeting on May 8\, 2024\, at the Cooperative Extension Training Room\, Building N\, located in the Brunswick County Government Complex\, 25 Referendum Dr\, Bolivia at 10:00 AM.  At this meeting attendees will be briefed on the importance of having a will or trust and updates to veteran disability and medical benefits.  There are over 40 veteran organizations throughout Brunswick and New Hanover counties who send representatives to Coalition meetings to learn about veteran affairs and take this information back to their respective organizations to share with their fellow comrades. SUMMARY:Operation Medicine Cabinet Drug Take Back Event
DESCRIPTION:The 26th semi-annual “Operation Medicine Cabinet” drug take back event at Dosher Memorial Hospital is scheduled for Wednesday April 10th\, between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Local residents are invited to drop off unwanted and expired prescription medications at the hospital front entrance\, where law enforcement then takes what is collected for safe incineration. One of the conveniences of this event is that it is designed so that you can “drive through and drop off\,” without having to leave your car. \nSharps containers will not be accepted at this event\, however\, Dosher staff members will have information on hand on how to safely dispose sharps at home. \nPlease note: Dosher is unable to collect any medications outside of the published hours of this event. Participants who arrive early will be asked to hold onto their medications until 9:00 am. Community members who arrive after 1:00 pm will be directed to other local safe medication disposal locations.
