These habits can significantly improve your overall health and reduce the likelihood of developing many types of cancer. During the program\, Sarah will provide tips on how to take charge of your well-being and encourage your loved ones to do the same.  A family being aware of their cancer history impacts their care for generations to come. The session will be interactive\, featuring live polling and information on genetic screening.  A program you will not want to miss! \nThe program is FREE to all St. James residents\, but due to limited seating capacities\, registration is strongly suggested. DESCRIPTION:The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce is honoring Ann Hollingsworth’s impact on the local business community. Ann\, a volunteer and advocate of small business\, died earlier this month. The chamber will rename its Ambassador of the Year Award to the Ann Hollingsworth Ambassador of the Year Award and will also hold Promote Like Ann Day on Thursday (12/14). On 12/14\, simply visit a local business\, take a photo outside that business\, post it to your social media pages and tag the chamber and Ann. DESCRIPTION:Cindy’s Angels – the annual angel tree service project that grants holiday wishes to needy children\, teens and seniors – has returned to St. James. Trees adorned with angels have just been placed in each clubhouse foyer through Tuesday (11/21). Each angel has a tag with a special request from a child or senior or is marked “cash donation.” All are invited to choose an angel and follow the directions on the tag in order to grant a wish. If no angels are available\, cash donations made out to the St. James Service Club (SJSC) are greatly appreciated and will be used to purchase additional gift and food cards. Click here for more details.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Waterway Park at 9:00 AM on Wednesday (10/25) as our multigenerational “citizen scientists” continue building our “Living Shoreline” of bagged oyster shells and Spartina Alterniflora grasses. The event will include participation from UNCW partners (professors and graduate and undergraduate student interns) and South Brunswick High School students. We will install a new technology\, the Sandbar Oyster Catcher unit (about 5 feet)\, on a demo. Participants should wear strap-on shoes (no flip flops). This is a great event to make new friends while supporting an ecological service with our community\, then enjoying lunch! Registration is required to prepare enough lunch.
