Memorial Day Ceremony

American Legion Post 543 will host a Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday (5/29) in front of the Veterans Memorial at St. James Town Hall. Highlights of the ceremony include special guest speaker Admiral Karl Schultz, 26th Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard from 2018-22, and honoring of local Gold Star families. “Amazing Grace” will be played on the bagpipes. A memorial wreath will be placed at the Veterans Memorial followed by the playing of “Taps” by the bugler. If you are a Gold Star family or know of one who would like to be recognized and honored during this ceremony, please notify Chaplain Francka. The public is encouraged to attend and join the veterans of Post 543 in remembering those who loved our country enough to pay the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom. Seating will be available.
